Handwara , 24/Jan/2025 (TKA) : In an extraordinary display of dedication and faith, 74-year-old Mohammad Maqbool Tantary from Moominabad, Handwara, has accomplished the remarkable feat of handwriting the Holy Quran in just eight months. The handwritten Quran consists of 870 pages, showcasing his unwavering commitment and determination. A retired supervisor from the Handwara Municipal Committee, Mohammad Maqbool shared his experience, saying he devoted 5 to 8 hours daily to this task. “I have always been passionate about writing the Quran. Over the past several months, I stayed focused and determined to complete it,” he said. He emphasized the importance of not just writing but also reading the Quran regularly. “The Quran is a sacred book, and people should make it a habit to read it daily. I have been reading the Quran since childhood, and completing this handwritten copy brings me immense satisfaction,” he added. The cost of binding the handwritten Quran was only 150 rupees, reflecting his humble approach to the task. Retired 14 years ago, Mohammad Maqbool expressed gratitude for achieving this milestone, calling it a source of pride and fulfillment. Although he has long desired to perform Hajj, he could not fulfill this wish due to family responsibilities and health issues. However, he shared, “Writing the Quran gives me a sense of spiritual completion, as if I have performed Hajj. People now affectionately call me Hajji Mohammad Maqbool, which fills my heart with joy.” Mohammad Maqbool’s achievement is an inspiration to many, highlighting the value of faith, dedication, and the timeless beauty of the Quran.
