Baramulla Cricket Forum Meets Hon’ble Lt Governor to Discuss Key Sports Infrastructure Issues

Baramulla 29 May 2024: Baramulla Cricket Forum, under the leadership Mr. Abdul Khaliq Wani Chairman BCF ,Mr. Omar Azhar Kakroo Vice-President BCF ,Zubair Dar Gen. Secretary BCF, Irfan Rather Jt.Secretary BCF and among other senior members of BCF Mansoor ali sherwani, Charangurdev singh, Aquib manzoor , Ajaz Ahmad & Parvez buhroo met Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan Srinagar to discuss critical issues affecting sports infrastructure in Baramulla.

During the meeting, the forum thanked J&k Sports Council which is also headed by Honble Lt. Governor as President, Sh.Sarmad Hafeez Secretary YS&S to Govt and Nuzhat Gul Secretary Sports council for their support.

BCF highlighted several key concerns:

  1. Installation of Flood Lights at Gen Bipin Rawat Stadium: To facilitate evening matches and extend play hours.
  2. Provision of a Hockey Astro Synthetic Turf for Baramulla at kanispora: To promote hockey and provide world-class facilities for training and tournaments.
  3. Khel Gaon Initiatives at Azad gunj baramulla: Development plans aimed at encouraging sports participation among youth and providing state-of-the-art sports amenities.
  4. Support for an All-India Cricket Tournament: Seeking backing for organizing a prestigious cricket tournament to elevate the district’s sports profile.
  5. Completion of Pavilion Block Construction at General Bipin rawat stadium: Addressing the urgent need to finish the pavilion block to improve facilities for players and spectators.

The Hon’ble Lt Governor gave a positive response, assuring full support and a commitment to resolving these issues within a limited timeframe. This assurance has invigorated the Baramulla sports community, promising a brighter future for sports and youth development in the region.
