Srinagar, Jun 03 : Amidst the hot and dry weather conditions across Jammu & Kashmir, the weatherman here has predicted light rains from Tuesday, saying that a relief is expected from the scorching heat till June 08.

Director Meteorological department (MeT), Dr Mukhtar Ahmad told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the rains are expected to put an end to the prevailing hot and dry weather conditions in Jammu and Kashmir.

However, he said that no major relief is expected in the plains of Jammu and despite the possibility of light rains; the maximum temperature would continue to settle around 40 degree Celsius.

He added that with the possibility of the gusty winds, the plains as well as the higher reaches of Kashmir would receive the light rains and stated that the Jammu higher reaches will also receive rainfall from tomorrow afternoon.

The wet spell is expected to continue from June 04 to June 08 while the hot and dry weather conditions are expected from June 09 to June 13,” he said.

Pertinently, the hot and dry weather conditions continued for last several weeks with Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir recording the record-breaking maximum temperature.
