Doda, Aug 12: Reiterating that his party won’t ally with anyone in the upcoming Assembly polls, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) president Dr. Farooq Abdullah has demanded separate Parliamentary seats for Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal regions of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said this while addressing a public meeting in Bhalessa area of district Doda Monday. As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the NC president is on a week-long tour of Chenab valley which he started on Saturday by attending the marriage ceremony of NC leader Pyare Lal’s son in Chatroo sub-division of Kishtwar district.

Addressing a public meeting in Bhalessa today, Farooq Abdullah lashed out at the government of India for doing delimitation in Jammu and Kashmir in a hurry. “How can it be justified that a Member Parliament (MP) has to cross mountains to reach his people in Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary constituency. The MP can neither provide justice to one side nor to the other side,” the NC president said, adding that NC won’t ally with any party or person in the upcoming Assembly polls.

“When I was the Chief Minister in 2000, we had decided to go for delimitation alongside the entire country in the year 2026 but I didn’t know that these people (BJP) would try to divide us. It would have been better to provide one Lok Sabha seat to Pir Panjal and another to the people of Chenab valley,” Abdullah said.

“Don’t you people deserve a separate Lok Sabha constituency so that your voice and issues are also heard in the Parliament,” the former CM said with a round of applause from people.

He also took on Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaking on communal lines and targeting Muslims. “The PM termed Muslims as intruders and warned Hindus that their cows, buffalos and even Mangalsutras will be given to Muslims,” Farooq Abdullah said, adding, “They are dividing people on Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians but it should have been like this that we all are Hindustanis and we own this nation.”

Talking to the media persons after the public meeting, the NC president mentioned to KNO news that the election schedule is likely to be announced between August 21 to 25.

He also demanded an inquiry into the allegations levelled by Hindenburg against SEBI chief Madhabi Buch for having a share in Adani offshore entities.
