ECI expresses gratitude to MHA officials, Security Forces, IAF for peaceful J&K Polls

J&K LG congratulates newly elected members of Assembly, Says participation of millions of voters’ testimony to vibrant democracy

Srinagar, Oct 09: Election Commission of India (ECI) Wednesday expressed its gratitude to Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) officers, security forces and the Indian Airforce officers for their contribution towards peaceful Assembly polls in J&K held after a decade.

As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India Rajiv Kumar commended the exemplary role played by coordinated efforts of security forces with election officials which resulted in minimal re-polls & near zero instances of violence in last Lok Sabha polls.

“Assembly elections witnessed a massive meticulous deployment of forces. EC salutes Commitment of forces in maintaining peace & working hand in hand with election officials for a peaceful & intimidation free environment for voters in regions with a history of violence & insurgency,” Kumar said.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also congratulated the newly elected members of J&K Assembly.

He stated that the peaceful electoral process and participation of millions of voters is testimony to vibrant democracy and people’s faith in democratic values of the country. In a post on X, LG Sinha, as per KNO said that J&K stands taller, guided by principles of good governance, people-first, social justice and social harmony.

“My heartiest congratulations to all the members elected to the Legislative Assembly and NC-led alliance for victory in the polls. Best wishes to them in the service of people. The Constitution of India is our guiding light & I urge all to work together for the growth of J&K & welfare of people,” he said. The LG thanked the people for empowering and strengthening democracy in J&K. “I laud the efforts of CEO J&K, EC officials, JKP and security forces for working tirelessly and diligently to uphold the sanctity of the ballot and successfully completing transparent, free & fair election,” he said.
