SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 6 : Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has issued a final appeal to domestic consumers, urging them to take advantage of the Power Amnesty Scheme, which provides a waiver on late payment surcharges.

The scheme will end on March 31, 2025, with no further extensions. In a statement, Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, Er. Aaquib Waheed Deva, emphasized that consumers have until March 31, 2025, to pay their outstanding principal amount in full or in equal installments over the remaining four months to avail themselves of the surcharge waiver.

So far, 1,09,648 domestic consumers have benefited from the scheme, helping KPDCL collect Rs. 164 crore in revenue. The scheme targets 1,50,907 consumers with significant outstanding dues, and the government has waived Rs. 58 crore in late payment surcharges, providing substantial relief to these consumers.

The Chief Engineer encouraged those with outstanding balances to approach their respective Electric Subdivisions to settle their dues. “A large number of domestic consumers still have unpaid balances and have yet to come forward.

This is their final chance to benefit from the scheme,” she stated. She also warned that after the scheme ends, KPDCL will be compelled to take legal action and disconnect power for consumers who fail to clear their dues.__TKA
