Srinagar, December 12 (TKA) : In a notable step towards promoting environmental awareness and education, Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) Kashmir, Irfan Rasool Wani, inaugurated the first-of-its-kind Forest Library at the Forest Headquarters in Srinagar.

This initiative seeks to connect people, particularly the younger generation, with nature through knowledge and education. Situated within the tranquil surroundings of the Forest Complex at Sheikhbagh, Srinagar, the library houses an extensive collection of materials on forestry, wildlife, and environmental conservation.

It underscores the region’s dedication to fostering sustainable living and environmental awareness. During the inaugural event, the CCF Kashmir described the library as a milestone for both the Forest Department and nature enthusiasts.

He emphasized that it is not just a collection of books but a place where individuals can immerse themselves in learning about the environment. “Our goal is to inspire people and educate them about the importance of preserving our natural heritage,” he said. The library features a wide variety of books, journals, and digital resources, alongside interactive spaces designed to engage visitors in environmental learning activities.

It is envisioned as an educational hub and a platform for collaboration among students, researchers, environmentalists, and the wider community. The Forest Library also plans to host regular workshops, seminars, and exhibitions focusing on environmental themes.

These initiatives aim to encourage dialogue, increase awareness, and strengthen community participation in conservation efforts. Speaking about the vision behind the project, the CCF Kashmir expressed hope that the library would inspire a love for nature in its visitors and encourage them to join efforts to safeguard the environment for future generations.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Tawheed Ahmad Deva, CF Srinagar; Arashdeep Singh, CF South; DFO Urban Forestry; IPO, and HQ Range Officers.
