New Delhi, December 18: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed deep sorrow over a devastating fire in Kathua district that took six lives, including two children, and left four others injured.

In a heartfelt message, the Chief Minister conveyed his condolences to the grieving families, describing the tragedy as profoundly painful. “Losing six lives in such an unfortunate incident is heartbreaking. I pray for peace to the departed souls and a quick recovery for the injured,” he said.

The fire broke out early Wednesday morning in a rented accommodation, leading to the suffocation deaths of six individuals.

The victims were taken to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital in Kathua, where they were declared dead on arrival. Four others injured in the incident are currently undergoing treatment at the same facility.

The Chief Minister assured that all necessary steps are being taken to provide the injured with the best possible medical care. “I have directed officials to ensure top-quality treatment for the injured to aid in their recovery,” he added. Omar Abdullah also offered prayers for the strength of the affected families, expressing solidarity with them in their time of loss and hardship.
