Efforts Underway to Restore Power &Water Supply in the District

Pulwama, Dec 28 : Over 60% of roads in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district have been cleared following heavy snowfall, with ongoing efforts to restore power supply across the district.

Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, informed news agency that snow clearance machinery was mobilized immediately after the snowfall began accumulating yesterday.

“Clearance operations continued throughout the night, and by this morning, around 60% of roads have been cleared,” Dr. Qayoom stated. He added that due to continued snowfall, some roads required multiple clearances. Teams from the Mechanical Engineering Department (MED), Roads and Buildings (R&B), Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), and Urban Local Bodies have been working tirelessly to restore road connectivity.

Dr. Qayoom mentioned that hospitals and other essential installations have been prioritized for snow clearance. Efforts to restore power are also underway, with 11KV feeder faults being addressed.

Similarly, Public Health Engineering (PHE) teams are in the field to ensure water supply is maintained, with tankers deployed wherever necessary. He further assured that sufficient food supplies and LPG are available in the district.
