Awareness Program on Family-Based Care and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Held in Baramulla

Baramulla, January 18: The Social Welfare Department of Baramulla organized an awareness program at Dak Banglow, focusing on Family-Based Alternative Care under Mission Vatsalya and the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative. The event aimed to highlight child welfare, promote gender equality, and empower girls while spreading awareness about the services of the One Stop Centre and the Child Helpline (1098).

Speaking at the program, District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Sajad Ahmad Bhat stressed the importance of providing equal opportunities for children, especially girls. He shared the department’s dedication to promoting education, health, and overall well-being through various welfare schemes.

Chairman of the Child Welfare Committee Baramulla, Waseem Ahmad, called for collective efforts to ensure the safety and welfare of children. He appreciated the department’s efforts to support and empower girls and children in the district.

Bushra Bedaar, the Administrator of the One Stop Centre Baramulla, explained the services offered by the center to help women and children in need. She also encouraged community involvement to make these services more accessible.

Arjuman Wani, Coordinator for Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), distributed sports kits and sanitary napkin vending machines to Government Degree Colleges and Government Girls Higher Secondary Schools. Additionally, school bags and lunch boxes were given to girl students to encourage education and improve their well-being.

Students, teachers, and officials actively participated in the event, showcasing the district’s commitment to child welfare and gender equality.
