New Delhi, January 23: The Delhi High Court has sought a response from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on a bail plea filed by Engineer Rashid, the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) President and Member of Parliament from Baramulla.
AIP spokesperson Inam Un Nabi shared the information on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the NIA regarding a bail plea submitted by Engineer Rashid. The plea urges the court to direct the trial court to make a prompt decision on his pending bail application. Alternatively, it requests the High Court to rule on the matter itself. The case will be heard again on January 30, 2025.”
Engineer Rashid, who has been in custody for a significant period, has maintained his innocence. The AIP has consistently claimed that the charges against him are politically driven to suppress his efforts to highlight the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The party has expressed optimism for a fair decision in the upcoming hearing on January 30, 2025.
