Two Major Drug Suppliers from Delhi and UP Arrested In a significant breakthrough

Srinagar Police has successfully dismantled a major inter-state drug trafficking network while investigating Case FIR No. 136/2024 under sections 8/22-29 of the NDPS Act.

This achievement highlights the department’s dedication to eradicating the drug menace. The investigation, supported by bank transaction details and communication records, identified two key narcotic suppliers: Raju Gupta from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, and Mohammad Abrar from Bhajanpura, Delhi. These individuals were found to be primary sources of narcotics distributed to local drug peddlers.

A team led by Sub-Inspector Amandeep Singh from Police Post Noorbagh undertook a 10-day operation in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi with the cooperation of local law enforcement.

Raju Gupta was captured on 23-01-2025 in Bareilly, followed by the arrest of Mohammad Abrar on 24-01-2025 in Bhajanpura. Both suspects were presented before local courts, and after obtaining transit remands, they are now in Srinagar police custody.

Additionally, a suspicious courier parcel connected to the suspects has been located in Loni, Ghaziabad. Authorities are in the process of recovering it with proper legal authorization. Financial transactions and properties linked to the accused are also under investigation for potential seizure under the NDPS Act.

The case originated on 08-11-2024 during a routine checkpoint at Tarbal Chowk, Srinagar, where three drug peddlers were apprehended. The suspects, identified as Aijaz Ahmad Ganie (Athwajan Pantha Chowk), Owais Ahmad Gojri (Brari Pora), and Mir Roman (Ali Masjid Eidgah), were found in possession of 140 bottles of Codeine Phosphate, ₹38,530 in suspected drug proceeds, three mobile phones, and a drone used to track drug buyers.

The investigation into these arrests led police to the two inter-state suppliers from Delhi and UP. Srinagar Police remains steadfast in its mission to disrupt drug trafficking operations and ensure public safety. Efforts are ongoing, with more arrests and seizures expected in the near future.
