Srinagar , 28/Jan/2025 ( BANN) : Thousands of worshippers gathered across Kashmir on Tuesday to observe Mehraj-ul-Alam, a revered occasion that marks the ascension of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) to the heavens. The event, held annually on the 27th of Rajab, was celebrated with devotion at mosques and shrines throughout the Valley. The main congregation took place at the Hazratbal Shrine, located on the picturesque shores of Dal Lake. Here, the Holy Relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), known as “Moie-e-Muqadas,” was displayed to devotees. Hazratbal Shrine became the focal point of night-long prayers, known as “Shab Khawani,” attended by men, women, and children who prayed for blessings, harmony, and prosperity in the region. The Holy Relic was presented to the worshippers after Fajr (dawn) prayers and again following Zuhr prayers, drawing even more people to the shrine. The Holy Relic will remain available for viewing after every prayer for the next two days and on the upcoming Friday, offering more devotees the opportunity to pay their respects. This tradition is a cherished aspect of Mehraj-ul-Alam, deeply revered by the faithful. Other shrines and mosques, including the notable Jenab Sahab Soura, also organized prayer sessions throughout the night. These gatherings brought communities together to seek peace and unity for the region. Authorities ensured elaborate arrangements for the comfort and convenience of the large number of devotees. Special buses from Srinagar Smart City were arranged to transport worshippers from various parts of Kashmir to the Hazratbal Shrine. Officials confirmed that these services, along with other arrangements, will continue until Friday. A Waqf Board official stated that additional seating, security measures, and facilities for elderly and differently-abled individuals had been set up to ensure a smooth experience for all visitors. Meanwhile, the traffic department implemented a detailed plan to manage vehicle and pedestrian movement around the shrine. Extra transport services were provided to ensure easy access for worshippers. The area around Hazratbal Shrine was adorned with beautiful lighting, adding to the spiritual and serene atmosphere of the celebrations. Worshippers expressed appreciation for the arrangements, which made their experience comfortable and peaceful. As the week-long observance of Mehraj-ul-Alam continues, devotees remain engaged in prayers, seeking divine blessings for peace and prosperity in Kashmir. Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining smooth arrangements throughout this sacred period.
