Anantnag, 18 November 2024 (TKA) : In a decisive move to tackle the growing menace of drug abuse, the Anantnag Police have seized properties worth ₹1.5 crore under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. This action is part of their intensified efforts to crack down on drug peddlers and disrupt their illegal operations.

In a major development, Police Station Mattan confiscated a single-story residential house worth ₹80 lakh, owned by Afroz Ahmad Bhat, son of Gh Hassan, from Azam Khan Mohalla, Khreibal. Bhat, identified as a repeat offender, has been implicated in several NDPS-related cases for his involvement in the narcotics trade.

Similarly, Police Station Srigufwara took possession of three commercial shops valued at ₹70 lakh. These shops belong to Peer Asif Ahmad Shah and Peer Towseef Ahmad Shah, sons of Abdul Rashid Shah, from K Kalan, Srigufwara. Both individuals are under investigation for their alleged roles in various drug trafficking cases.

These stringent actions reflect the Anantnag Police’s determination to eliminate drug trafficking and dismantle networks that fuel addiction. Utilizing the NDPS Act to attach properties linked to criminal activities sends a clear warning to those involved in the illegal drug trade.

The Anantnag Police remain committed to building a drug-free society and will continue taking firm actions against individuals and groups perpetuating this menace.(Kashmir Aura)
