BCCI has announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. Shubman Gill will be leading the team and the Indian cricket board has also named five debutants in this team. This will be the first assignment for Gill as the Indian captain. He recently also led Gujarat Titans in the recently concluded edition of the Indian Premier League. However, it was a season to forget for GT as they finished on the number 8 spot in the points table.

“The Men’s Selection Committee has picked a 15-member squad for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe. India will visit Harare in the first week of July to participate in a 5-match T20I series against the hosts,” said BCCI in their official media release.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson are the only two players in the team who are also members of the Indian T20 World Cup 2024 squad. However, neither of them have got their chance to play in the eleven yet. However, all of the traveling reserves are part of the squad.

Riyan Parag, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Reddy, Tushar Deshpande, and Dhruv Jurel will be making their T20I debuts, Among them, Dhruv Jurel is the only player to have played for India before. He made his red-ball debut earlier this year against England. All of them have been consistent performers and were impressive in the IPL 2024, which also earned them these call-ups.

India’s squad vs ZIM

Ꮪhubman Gill (Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Nitish Reddy, Riyan Parag, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, Tushar Deshpande.
