Gurez, March 8 (TKA): The Dawar Battalion, under the aegis of the Snow Leopard Brigade, organized a series of events in Gurez Valley to commemorate International Women’s Day. The initiative aimed to empower local women and recognize their contributions to society.
The celebrations began with a skiing event for young girls, promoting winter sports and encouraging female participation in adventure activities. The event provided an opportunity for the girls to showcase their skills and develop confidence in outdoor sports.
A special awareness lecture was also conducted by a medical officer for women attending the Crewel Craft Course. The session focused on women’s health and well-being, highlighting the importance of self-care and medical awareness.
As a token of appreciation for their invaluable contributions, local women were felicitated with essential amenities. The event served as a platform to acknowledge their efforts and encourage their active role in community development.
More than 50 women benefited from the initiative, making it a meaningful and impactful celebration of International Women’s Day in the remote valley of Gurez. The Dawar Battalion’s efforts were widely appreciated by the local community, reinforcing the importance of women’s empowerment and well-being.
