Srinagar, Jun 10 : Dr. Jitendra Singh, a renowned diabetes specialist, has been sworn in as Minister of State with Independent Charge for the third time.

The oath ceremony took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday, marking his return to the Union Cabinet and his third consecutive term as a Member of Parliament from Udhampur.

As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Dr. Singh’s inclusion in the BJP’s top think tank has put an end to speculations about other potential cabinet members. His victory is particularly noteworthy as he is the first leader from Jammu and Kashmir to serve in the central government for three terms in a row.

During his tenure, Dr. Singh has been instrumental in implementing numerous projects in Jammu and Kashmir and has also served as a minister in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). His recent electoral success, where he won by a significant margin against the joint candidate of India Alliance, has been attributed to his consistent performance and dedication to public service.

The news of Dr. Singh’s appointment was met with widespread acclaim on social media, with supporters and party leaders expressing their congratulations even before he took the oath. A special banquet was organized at his Delhi residence to celebrate the occasion, attended by 250 individuals who had traveled from Jammu and Kashmir to witness the historic event.

Dr. Singh’s journey from a medical professional to a prominent political figure began in 2010 when he joined the BJP. His initial foray into politics saw him defeat former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, leading to his appointment as a minister. Since then, he has maintained a close relationship with the Prime Minister and played a key role in strengthening the BJP’s presence in the state.
