Handwara, January 12, 2025: Pir Nisar, Vice President of the Jammu and Kashmir Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC), held a press conference in Handwara to highlight key challenges faced by government employees across the region.

During the press meet, Pir Nisar brought attention to the delays in the release of the General Provident (GP) Fund, calling for urgent reforms to expedite the process. He also shed light on the hardships faced by daily wagers and contractual workers, emphasizing the need for their regularization and timely payment of wages. In addition, he called for better workplace conditions and the resolution of longstanding grievances of employees.

Pir Nisar reaffirmed the EJCC’s commitment to advocating for the rights of government workers and urged the administration to take prompt action to address these critical concerns.

The event was attended by several prominent local representatives, including Syed Javid Masroor, District General Secretary of JKTF Kupwara; Azeem Hafeez Mir, Vice President of TJAC Kupwara; Arshid Iqbal, Publicity Secretary of the Food Supplies Employees Association Kupwara; and Gh Mohd War, Media Advisor of TJAC Mawar.

Local journalists, EJCC members, and union representatives also participated in the press conference, expressing their support for the demands presented.

The EJCC leadership announced a change in the date of their planned protest, originally scheduled for January 13 at Press Colony in Srinagar. The demonstration has been postponed to January 16 in light of the Prime Minister’s visit to Kashmir.
