Srinagar: Umar Jaan,Senior Leader & Provincial Secretary of Jammu Kashmir Apni Party today expressed deep concern over the lapse of funds allocated for contractors in the Union Territory for the financial year 2023-24.”We are deeply troubled by the reports of lapsed funds meant for J&K contractors,” said Mr. Jaan.

“These funds are crucial for infrastructure development and economic growth in our UT. The non-disbursement of these funds not only hurts businesses but also stalls development projects, impacting the overall well-being of our people.”Mr. Jaan highlighted the plight of young contractors and self-help groups who have invested their hard-earned money and effort in anticipation of these projects.

“The lapse of these funds is a serious setback for them,” he stated. The JK Apni Party leader further emphasized the lack of response from key officials on this critical issue. “We have reached out to concerned authorities, but unfortunately, our attempts to seek guidance on how to address this effectively and ensure accountability have been met with silence,” he said.

“However, we are determined to explore all avenues to ensure a prompt resolution,” Mr. Jaan asserted. “The JK Apni Party is open to collaboration and support from all stakeholders to rectify this situation and ensure that such lapses do not occur in the future.”The JK Apni Party urged the Lietenant Governor to: Investigate the reasons behind the lapse of funds.Take immediate steps to disburse the allocated funds to the contractors. Implement a more transparent and efficient system for fund allocation and utilization.

Establish clear channels of communication to address concerns from contractors and ensure accountability. The JK Apni Party stands committed to working towards a prosperous and developed Jammu & Kashmir. We believe that timely disbursement of allocated funds is essential for achieving this goal.
