Srinagar, December 2: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has applauded the tourism sector stakeholders of Jammu and Kashmir for introducing Uber Shikara services in Srinagar.

This innovative service, launched just in time for the upcoming tourist season, aims to enhance the iconic Shikara ride experience by integrating modern technology with the region’s rich cultural heritage.

In a statement on social media platform X, the Lieutenant Governor described the Uber Shikara initiative as a symbol of how technology can preserve and promote traditional cultural values. He noted that the service would offer tourists a smooth and convenient way to enjoy the serene beauty of Shikara rides, a signature attraction of Jammu and Kashmir.

“The launch of Uber Shikara in Srinagar demonstrates how creative use of technology can amplify our cultural legacy. This initiative will ensure tourists enjoy the timeless charm of Shikara rides, a hallmark of Jammu and Kashmir’s unmatched beauty,” the LG stated.

He also commended Uber for their forward-looking approach, which not only simplifies access to peaceful experiences but also contributes to the growth of local tourism. The LG encouraged visitors to explore the paradise of Kashmir during the magical winter season, highlighting the region’s breathtaking charm and warm hospitality.

This innovative step is expected to strengthen the tourism industry while providing visitors with a modernized yet authentic experience of Kashmir’s famed Shikara culture.____TKA
