In compliance with the directions of the Deputy Commissioner ,(DC), Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan, the Tehsil Administration of Handwara conducted an extensive market-checking drive on Wednesday.
The drive was led by Naib Tehsildar Handwara, Ghulam Mohammad Dar, accompanied by officials from the Revenue Department, Handwara Municipal Committee, and the Police Department. The team inspected various markets in the Handwara area to monitor the pricing and availability of essential commodities.
Speaking on the occasion, Naib Tehsildar Handwara stated that the primary objective of the market-checking initiative was to regulate the prices of essential items, curb hoarding practices, and ensure the availability of fresh produce for the public.
During the inspection, several shopkeepers found violating regulations were fined on the spot. Rs.1000/=They were also directed to maintain the availability of fresh vegetables and adhere to prescribed rates.
The administration reiterated its commitment to safeguarding consumer interests and maintaining market discipline in the region.
