Bandipora, Oct 14: Member of Parliament Sheikh Abdul Rashid on Monday slammed National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah for his remarks on Article 370, stating that he shifted his focus from seeking restoration of Article 370 to demanding Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking with media persons in Bandipora, Rashid, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that NC was previously demanding restoration of Article 370, but now that they are in power their focus has shifted to Statehood.
Asked about Omar Abdullah’s remarks that NC will wait for restoration of Article 370 till Congress government comes to power at Centre, he said what if BJP remains in power for 40 years. “This is a political issue, and it should be fought politically. Neither courts nor statements will restore Article 370; we must fight for it through a political movement.”
Rashid said that his top priority will be construction of tunnels for border areas of Gurez and Karnah . “I will meet union minister for roads and highways, Nitin Gadkari to seek approval for these projects,” he said
