Srinagar, Jan 28 : Jammu and Kashmir’s former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, has shared his perspective on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) initiative in Uttarakhand and the proposed amendments to the Waqf Bill, emphasizing that both matters will ultimately be resolved in Parliament at the national level.
While speaking to reporters, Abdullah commented on Uttarakhand’s efforts to implement the UCC, stating, “They can proceed as they wish, but the final call will be taken in Parliament.” Regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, he clarified that no new law has been passed yet.
He explained that the bill is under review by a parliamentary committee and is still in the discussion phase. Abdullah further mentioned that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has also shared his input with the committee. “Let the committee complete its review, after which the matter will be debated in Parliament,” he said.
