Srinagar, Jul 10 : Jammu and Kashmir administration has cancelled the licenses of over 650 Common Services Centers (CSCs) in Jammu and Kashmir in the past one year.

According to the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the government across Jammu and Kashmir have cancelled the licenses of 664 CSCs in Jammu and Kashmir for overcharging.

The details read that after finding the CSCs violating the norms of charging exorbitant rates, the officials have taken strict note against them and have cancelled their licenses as well.

In the Financial Year 2023-24, a total of 624 licenses across Jammu and Kashmir have been cancelled while in the Financial Year 2024-25, a total of 40 licenses of CSCs have been cancelled so far.

The officials said that the government has issued clear directions that there should be strict adherence to the notified rates to avail various online services, which envisages Rs. 50 per service for government to citizen service and Rs. 75 for government to business services. “The inspections are being carried out to ascertain the complaints and those who are found overcharging the people are facing the license cancellation,” they said.

Pertinently, the Central Government has established Common Service Centers (CSCs) in Jammu and Kashmir with an aim to enhance citizen services and accessibility. The centers were established to achieve the goal of digital India.

However, the officials said that the centers have assisted to ensure transparency, but those who will be found violate the notified rates will be dealt with strictly.
