Royal Challengers Bengaluru reached the playoffs of the Indian Premier League 2024 with a 27-run win over CSK at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday.
RCB made 218 runs for the loss of half their side in 20 overs before limiting CSK to a total of 191 runs for seven to secure the fourth and final spot in the playoff race and will contest the eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad!
The toss fell in favour of the visitors, Chennai Super Kings who chose to bowl first in the crucial clash for the final playoff spot. CSK have made just one change where they brought in Mitchell Santner in place of Moeen Ali while RCB have brought in Glenn Maxwell coming in for Will Jacks.
The equation is simple for RCB. They need to beat CSK by a margin of 18 runs to secure a spot in the playoffs. For CSK if they lose by a margin lesser than 18 runs, or a tie or the win will help them get the playoff spot.
A spirited fight from every single batter in the RCB ranks ensured that the home side crossed the 200-run mark for a record sixth time this season.
Powered by a quick start from the likes of du Plessis and Kohli, RCB’s momentum would never waver despite the fall of wickets.
A fiery cameo from Rajat Patidar, Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell powered RCB to a score of 218 runs in 20 overs, as CSK will now be tasked with saving their season.
