Remaining flights on standby likely to face cancellations due to low visibility: Airport Director
Srinagar, Dec 27 : Flight operations at Srinagar Airport have been heavily disrupted, with 80% of flights cancelled and the remaining 10% on standby, potentially facing cancellation due to ongoing low visibility, officials reported.
Speaking to news agency, Srinagar Airport Director Javed Anjum confirmed that the persistent snowfall has led to widespread cancellations, with visibility too poor to allow landings despite a clear runway.
“The snowfall has resulted in the cancellation of approximately 80% of flights. The remaining 10% are on standby and are also likely to be cancelled as visibility remains low,” Anjum stated.
He mentioned that flights operated by airlines such as Indigo, SpiceJet, and GoAir are among those affected.
Anjum added that if weather conditions improve later in the day, there is a possibility for the remaining flights to resume, but this will entirely depend on improved visibility.
