Srinagar, December 21, 2024 (TKA) : Srinagar experienced its coldest December night in over two decades, with temperatures plunging to -8.5°C.
This marks the third lowest December temperature recorded in the last 133 years. The harsh winter period, known as Chillai-Kalan, has begun, bringing intense cold wave conditions to the region.

Kulgam: -6.8°C
Chillai-Kalan, a 40-day period of severe winter, started today and will last until January 31, followed by Chillai-Khurd (small cold) and Chillai-Bachha (baby cold) periods.
