Srinagar, May 06: Smart City projects in Srinagar are nearing completion, with locals requesting the authorities to speed up the pace of work.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL), Dr Owais Ahmed, during a visit to the Karan Nagar area, said all ongoing projects under SSCL will be wrapped up within the next 45 days.

Speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) an official from Srinagar Smart City Limited, said the completion of underground work will be followed by macadamisation process. “All the projects of Smart City are progressing at a good pace and if the weather remains favourable, the entire work will be finished on time,” he said.

“The projects, undertaken in double shifts, are nearing their final stages and are set to bring much-needed relief to motorists and pedestrians alike,” he said.

Local residents expressed optimism about the improvements. “The Karan Nagar to Kak Sarai road has been a nightmare for commuters, especially during rainfall,” said a resident. “We are hopeful that the completion of these projects will ease our daily travails and alleviate traffic congestion,” he added.

Meanwhile, on May 04, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo embarked on a whirlwind tour of Srinagar to personally assess the progress of Smart City initiatives. Accompanied by key officials, Dulloo inspected various project sites, including the development of pedestrian walkways, cycle tracks, and beautification efforts along the iconic Dal Lakefront.
