Kulgam, Dec 13 : Two individuals lost their lives after being trapped under an overturned apple-laden truck in Pombai area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, officials reported. An official stated that a container truck with the registration number JK03P-0505, carrying apples, overturned on a road in Pombai village. Out of the four individuals onboard, two managed to escape by jumping out, while the other two were trapped beneath the vehicle.

In response to the incident, police, SDRF, and locals launched a large-scale rescue operation despite the harsh winter conditions. After two hours of effort, the trapped individuals were pulled out in critical condition.

“Sadly, both victims succumbed to their injuries at the hospital,” the official said. The deceased were identified as Reyaz Ahmad Rather and Mukhtar Ahmad Itoo, both residents of Gopalpora, Kulgam. Authorities have registered a case, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
