KUTHUA, DECEMBER 04: On the intervening night of 2nd and 3rd December 2024, at about 2: 45 am, during the routine patrolling, the officers of Forest Division Basohli apprehended a vehicle (Mahindra Pick-Up, registration number JK08A-8104) at Lohai (Poonda), Basohli-Mahanpur road.Upon inspection, the vehicle was found loaded with Khair-wood (approximately 16 Quintal). On questioning, the Driver failed to produce any valid transportation/ felling permission for the loaded material.After preliminary legal formalities, the vehicle and the illicit khair-wood were seized under the provisions of Section 52 of the Indian Forest Act, 1927 and brought to the Divisional Forest Office, Basohli.A case has been registered against the defaulter under Sections 26, 42, and 69 of the Indian Forest Act, 1927. The matter has been submitted before the Court of the Authorized Officer, Basohli, for the initiation of confiscation proceedings as per the law.The operation was carried out by Munish Bhardwaj, SFS; Divisional Forest Officer and Yash Paul Sharma, Range Forest Officer, Basohli.
